See Forever Foundation/Maya Angelou Public Charter School's target population is Washington, D.C.'s students who have been poorly served by (or have failed to succeed in) the District’s larger public schools. More specifically, the school’s goal is that at least 50% of its students will fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • Youth involved at some point in the juvenile delinquency system,
  • Youth involved in the foster care/neglect system,
  • Students who are low income and eligible for free or reduced meals, and/or
  • Youth who failed, dropped out of, or were expelled from a previous grade.

SFF/MAPCS currently operates two alternative high schools, one alternative middle school, Oak Hill Academy (located in the long-term secure facility for D.C. youth who have been adjudicated delinquent), and a Transition Center to support students released from Oak Hill transition back into the community.
