In the Spotlight: SFF Wins Award for Student Achievement Gains

Maya Angelou Public Charter School-Evans Campus, a charter school operated by See Forever Foundation in Washington, DC, was recognized for its success in significantly raising student achievement on state.

The 2008 EPIC (Effective Practice in Community) award, an initiative originally developed by New Leaders for New Schools to disseminate best education practices nationally, honors educators at alternative schools whose students who have made significant gains in standardized achievements tests between eighth and tenth grades.

This award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our staff, teachers, parents, and most importantly, our scholars, said Thaly Germain, assistant principal at the Evans school. Added SFF/MAPCS Executive Director Cynthia Robbins, “It is evidence that our approach to education is working, and we look forward to next year’s review as we strive to achieve even higher gains.”
